Provides professional teaching artistry for all assigned classes, camps, workshops, and/or productions

Utilizes positive classroom management techniques for all students

Develops, writes, evaluates, and implements curriculum on behalf of KMT programs

Prepares classroom and materials prior to the start of class, camp, workshop and/or production

Collaborates and communicates with other teaching artists and educators

Communicates and builds rapport with students, guardians, staff, teachers, and stakeholders

Learn and follow safety procedures and protocols as designated by KMT and The Liberty Theatre

Maintains accurate records as required, including attendance

Represents education programs at KMT and in the larger community

Mentors interns, classroom assistants, apprentices, and fellows

Attends professional development opportunities

Attends faculty and orientation meetings

Collaborates with program manager(s) and Liberty staff

Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of two years of work experience in related field

Experience in theatre

Minimum of one-year experience working with youth

Candidates with experience working with several age groups or interest in learning to work with several age groups highly valued

Strong classroom management skills

Excellent communication skills

Commitment to cultural awareness in the classroom is highly valued

Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are highly valued

Ability to pass a full background check

Reliable mode of transportation

Availability to work after school, evenings and/or weekends (schedules vary)

The primary work location is 1203 Commercial Street, Astoria, OR 97103. If needed, there may be remote work to meet government recommendations for COVID-19 or other health or safety situations. Employment is contingent on verification and completion of a background check, which includes criminal history, and of information provided by the applicant as part of the application process. We require up to date COVID-19 vaccinations for all contractors, except for medical or religious exemptions.

The work requires the ability to manage young people safely in an active, creative environment. The requirements will vary depending on the age of the students and type of programming.
