Shellyene (Shey) Lionheart

/Shellyene (Shey) Lionheart

Shey Lionheart was born and raised in this foggy fisher town. She is passionate about creative expression, civic engagement, cultural impact, youth empowerment, community awareness, and fairy gardening. The local River Theatre and Astoria High School Thespian Club was where she learned that everything backstage is magic.

Shey wanted to be a magician when she grew up so the theatre became her favorite muse. During her continued rendezvous with theatre Shey learned everything she possibly could backstage. Her backstage history is full of all kinds; from musicals, to Shakespeare, to thrillers, to poetry, to comedy, to improv, and to things stunningly serious. Shey has served as a stage manager, light designer, sound & light board operator, assistant costumer, set designer, stagehand, and a prop designer.

Shey has been a part of many epic shows in local theatres between Seattle and Portland while in college and AmeriCorps with extraordinary actors and loves every moment. Some of her most memorable favorites include; stage managing for Doubt: A Parable, Dead Man Walking, Vagina Monologues, and her most recent return to local stage managing with the Ten Fifteen Productions play Tiny Beautiful Things stage-adapted by Nia Vardolas from the book by Cheryl Strayed.

Shey is a 15 year veteran of working with youth of all ages. Along her career path Shey has been an integral part of creating, implementing, and supporting youth development programs, and grant writing to help continue a safe place for artistic expression for kids.

Shey is thrilled to be a part of the KMT Teaching Artist family. She looks forward to strengthening creative expression in the hearts of our local youth.
