Marianne Monson

Marianne Monson made her stage debut as the fairy godmother in a children’s theater production of Cinderella at the age of nine. Storytelling in many forms has played a significant role in her life ever since. She is primarily known as a women’s history author, with twelve published books for children and adults, many of them dedicated to telling the stories of overlooked women from history.

Marianne has an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in English Literature; she has taught students of all ages at colleges, schools, and universities from Costa Rica to Tanzania. She’s the founder and president of The Writer’s Guild, a literary nonprofit. Originally from the midwest, when she arrived in Astoria in 2017, she felt for the first time she’d truly found home.
