Liberty Theatre
At the Liberty Theatre, we believe that the arts not only benefits our community culturally and economically, but is vital to our overall well-being and quality of life.
Our mission, as a vital community partner and historic theatre, is to be a regional gathering place offering a variety of performing arts experiences and educational programs. However, during this time of COVID and beyond, the Liberty Theatre is committed to harnessing the performing arts’ power as a catalyst for creating a healthier, stronger, and more vibrant community.
Many rural and small communities lack the access and resources that larger, more urban communities have. Here’s how the Liberty Theatre has partnered with artists, government, foundations, and other organizations to support the entire Northwest Oregon Coast region, and impact our local community.

Community Outreach
- Formed a coalition of 17 local performing arts organizations in response to COVID
- Advocated at the state and national level for CARES Act funding for the coalition
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, partnering with our tribes, Q Center, and Consejo Hispano
- 31% of tickets are free, providing more equitable community access, including discounts for locals

Economic Impact
- Before COVID, Liberty Theatre supported 3 full-time jobs and 4 part-time positions
- As an important economic driver for our community, we generate $814K plus in economic impact
- We partner with local businesses to bring in tourism dollars through hotel, dinner, and show packages
- 33% of patrons are from outside Clatsop County which equals local tourism dollars

Restoration
- Phase 2 completed our new concessions area, LED lighting, and HVAC, providing additional revenue
- Partnered with Energy Trust of Oregon to become more energy efficient and lower operating costs
- Phase 3 would update our back-of-the-house to support larger productions and even more revenue
- Phase 3 would triple attendance, create jobs, and double the economic impact to the community

Youth Programs
- Host 2100 students on their annual field trip to see the Astoria School of Ballet
- Host performer workshops in middle and high schools to expose students to the arts at an early age
- Raise funds for local schools during "Music in Schools" month through our Homegrown Series
- Host Annual Missoula Children's Theatre Camp – 65 local kids attend a week-long camp for free
